The Public Works and Economic Adjustment Assistance program is divided into two subcategories which are:

1) Public Works and Economic Development Facilities Program - Through this program, the EDA will provide strategic Public Works investments in an effort to support the construction of the rehabilitation of fundamental public infrastructures and facilities, thereby helping such communities leverage their strengths and resources with the end goal of creating more job opportunities and ensuring stable economies.
2) Economic Adjustment Assistance Program - Through this program the EDA will provide a wide range of construction and non-construction assistance in regions suffering from severe economic dislocations.
The EDA has allocated a budget of $161,000,000 for the Public Works and Economic Adjustment Assistance Program.
The EDA will not award grants to individuals and to for-profit organizations. Which is why, only the following will be considered eligible to apply for the Public Works and Economic Adjustment Assistance Program:
a) District Organizations from a designated Economic Development District
b) Indian Tribes or a consortium of Indian Tribes
c) State, city, or other political subdivision of a State, such as special purpose units or a consortium of political subdivisions
d) institutions of higher education or a consortium of institutions of higher education
e) Public or private non-profit organizations.
