The Environmental Protection Agency, more commonly referred to as the EPA, is an federal government agency of the United States that is greatly responsible for protecting human health and the environment.

The grants and initiatives of the EPA revolve around the notion of utilizing national efforts in order to reduce environmental risks, with the help of the best available scientific information.
Since the year 2008, EPA has been running the San Francisco Bay Water Quality Improvement Fund Program wherein they administer funds through competitive grant programs in order to encourage and promote the protection and restoration of the San Francisco Bay Watersheds.
This 2012, the Environmental Protection Agency intends to continue pursuing this mission by looking to issue two competitive grant solicitations.
With that, EPA is now seeking for innovative, cost-effective proposals that make way for partnerships and widespread implementation, specifically the type of proposals that can lead to the reduction of polluted run-offs, the restoration of impaired waters, and the improvement of aquatic habitat.
