It generally aims to provide student financial aid programs for advanced education registered nurses. In addition, the program also aims to address concerns regarding the shortage or inadequacy of primary care providers.

The organizers of this program understands that Primary care nurse practitioners and nurse-midwives play an essential role in improving the public's access to primary care services, and for this reason, they have decided to continuously carry out the Advanced Education Nursing Traineeship Program.
In order to support the initiatives to be carried out under the program, the Health Resources and Services Administration will grant funds in the amount of $22,750,000.
The institutions and establishments who will be deemed eligible to submit an application under this program are the following:
a) Collegiate schools of nursing
b) Nursing Centers
c) Academic Health Centers
d) State and Local Governments
e) City or Township Governments
f) Public and Private Nonprofit Agencies and Organizations
The Department of Health and Human Services, the mother agency funding the Advanced Education Nursing Traineeship Program, is the nation's premiere agency for the protection of the health of all Americans and the provision of essential human services to everyone.
