The mission of the National Institutes of Health is to constantly obtain advances that would help prevent, detect, diagnose, and treat diseases and disabilities.

In cooperation with the National Cancer Institute, the National Institute of Health has recently announced a funding opportunity to support the Cancer Research Network(CRN) in its quest in reshaping the its organization to become a more broader resource for cancer researchers.

The National Cancer Institute intends to make this funding opportunity an instrument in the promotion of further technical and methodological enhancements of the Cancer Research Network information infrastructure and at the same time give importance to efforts aimed towards providing access for non-CRN-affiliated investigators to CRN data and expertise.

In addition, the National Cancer Institute and the National Institutes of Health also aim to improve the number, scope and impact of research studies that are currently based on data provided by CRN and as well as the active participation of CRN investigators in such research projects.
