In addition, the NIH and NICHD also intend to provide worthy clinical investigators with the opportunity to procure state of the art training in an academic research setting to stimulate pediatric research over several other of disciplines.

With this, the Child Health Research Career Development Award Program also seeks to encourage the simulation and performance of research studies that focus on pediatrics and its subspecialties, thereby aiming to acquire results that will benefit the health of children in general.
The NIH also invites diverse proposals from individuals coming from racial and ethnic groups which are underrepresented in biomedical and behavioral research, individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, individuals with disabilities, and women.
In order to support the activities that are covered under the program in focus, the NIH and NICHD are set to administer funds in the amount of $2,592,000.
The institutions and organizations who will be deemed eligible to submit an application under this program are the following:
a) Higher Education Institutions such as Public and Private Institutions of Higher Education
b) Nonprofit Organizations
c) For-profit Organizations Such as Small Businesses
d) State Governments, County Governments, City or Township Governments, Special District Governments, and Indian/Native American Tribal Governments
e) Independent School Districts, Public Housing Authorities/Indian Housing Authorities, Native American Tribal Organizations, and Faith-based or Community-based Organizations
