Critical Congenital Heart Disease Newborn Screening Demonstration Program

The Health Resources and Services Administration, otherwise known as HRSA, is a federal government agency operating within the United States Department of Health and Human Services that is specifically responsible for improving the public's access to quality health care services, especially for those who are uninsured, isolated or medically vulnerable.

The grants and undertakings of the HRSA are all geared towards the attainment of its overall agency mission which is to "improve health and achieve health equity through access to quality services, a skilled health workforce and innovative programs."

In keeping with this mission, the Health Resources and Services Administration has recently constituted the Critical Congenital Heart Disease (CCHD) Newborn Screening Demonstration Program in order to support and encourage the development, dissemination, and validation of screening protocols and newborn screening infrastructure for point of care screenings that are specific to Critical Congenital Heart Diseases.
