Early-Grade Reading Improvement Interventions Program

by:

The United States Agency for International Development, also known as USAID, is an independent federal government agency that is mainly responsible for administering civilian foreign aid to several countries all over the world.

The USAID operates towards the achievement of their mission which is to "extend a helping hand to those people overseas struggling to make a better life, recover from a disaster or striving to live in a free and democratic country."

In line with this mission, the USAID has developed the Early-Grade Reading Improvement Interventions Program wherein they seek to solicit interventions that would improve the reading achievements in the early grades in Latin America and in the Caribbean region.

The overall goal of the program is to address the gaps that continue to halt the progression of cost-effective and scalable approaches that will help in improving the reading abilities of the students in the early primary grades.

The USAID office in Latin American and Caribbean(LAC) plans to achieve this end-goal by tapping into selected countries where they will implement some of the interventions that have been designed by the applicants to help improve the reading outcomes of the target populations.

The implemented interventions will then be assessed for its cost-effectiveness, impact, and scalability in order to thoroughly evaluate its full potential and optimal usability.
