The United States Government gives great importance to the safety and welfare of its people. It recognizes the absolute need for safe, affordable, and quality housing opportunities which will be accessible to all citizens of the United States, maybe it be the rich, or the low to moderate-income individuals.

The government has established quite a slew of agencies that are specifically designed to administer housing programs and assist the needs of homebuyers, renters, and property developers.

The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, otherwise referred to as HUD, is the government's leading agency for supporting and assisting all housing-related needs.

The mission of the HUD is to "create strong, sustainable, inclusive communities and quality affordable homes for all; strengthen the housing market to bolster the economy and protect consumers; meet the need for quality affordable rental homes: utilize housing as a platform for improving quality of life; build inclusive and sustainable communities free from discrimination."
