Which is why the Health Resources and Services Administration intends to overcome unnecessary licensure barriers to cross-state practices, for the reason that it will expedite the mobility of health care providers, thereby improving the nation's access to safe and quality health care services.

The Licensure Portability Grant Program also hopes to solicit projects that are clearly capable of serving national models and can determine definite solutions to overcoming State statutory and regulatory licensure barriers to cross-state practice of telemedicine for all the health professions.

HRSA plans to administer two grants per year with an estimated funding in the amount of $700,000 per award.

Qualified applicants will be limited by statute to State professional licensing boards. However, the Health Resources and Services Administration has emphasized that those eligible state licensing boards that are interested in taking part in the Licensure Portability Grant Program demonstrate an impressive record in implementing cross-border activities in order to overcome licensure barriers to the provision of telemedicine services across various states.

The Department of Health and Human Services, the primary agency funding the Licensure Portability Grant Program, is country's leading agency that is primarily responsible for the protection of the health and well-being of all Americans and the provision vital human services to everyone.
