The Ohio Housing Finance Agency, more typically referred to as OHFA, is an independent state agency operating in Ohio that is geared towards providing housing opportunities to first time homebuyers, renters, senior citizens, and other populations with special needs.

The OHFA provides low to moderate income residents of Ohio to purchase homes that are priced within their means and at the same time, offers financial incentives to developers and contractors in an effort to boost the market of affordable rental housing.

Along with this, the agency also offers funding to for-profit and non-profit developers in order to financially assist them in the process of building new properties or rehabilitating or improving existing rental homes.

One of the most popular programs of the Ohio Housing Finance Agency is the Ohio Heroes Program which is exclusively intended for active military men, active reservists, veterans, firefighters, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, and several other individuals with noble professions.

The key features of the loan program are its incredibly low interest rates, 30-year fixed interest rate mortgage plans, flexible interest rate options, and tremendously generous purchase limits.

In order to be eligible to apply for the Ohio Heroes Program, a borrower must be engaged in any of the following line of professions:

a) Qualified Active Duty Service personnel, including Armed Services or Reserve Forces
