The program believes that greater and further cooperation from the academic communities will support and improve the capacity of the USAID as well other development organizations in other developing countries in the process of overcoming developmental challenges, concerns, and innovations.

The USAID also hopes that through the cooperative agreements that will established under this program, the academic community will be able to support the agency and several other development organizations in the complicated process of enhancing their analytical capabilities and the way that they comprehend development challenges and the issues that they need overcome in order to address them.

The United States Agency for International Development is set to administer funds in the amount of $25,000,000 to support the USAID University Engagement through Higher Education Institution Program.

The institutions and organizations that will be deemed eligible to submit an application under this program are the following:

a) Public and private colleges and universities

b) US and non-US private non-profit organizations

c) Non-Governmental Organizations

d) Qualified US and non-US private for-profit organizations

e) Private Voluntary Organizations (PVOs)

f) Faith-Based Organizations (FBOs)
