The United States Agency for International Development, more commonly referred to as USAID, is a United States federal government agency that is primarily accountable for administering civilian foreign aid to several countries across the world.

The grants and programs of the USAID are all designed to achieve a common goal, to realize its general agency mission, which is to "extend a helping hand to those people overseas struggling to make a better life, recover from a disaster or striving to live in a free and democratic country."
In line with this mission, the United States Agency for International Development has recently constituted the USAID University Engagement through Higher Education Institution Program wherein it seeks to hone the knowledge, research skills, and creativity of higher education campuses.
