United States Institutes for Student Leaders on US History & Government

The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, more commonly referred to as ECA, is an agency operating under the United States Department of State that is primarily responsible for fostering mutual understanding between the inhabitants of the United States and the people of other countries around the world.

The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs has recently established the United States Institutes for Student Leaders on US History & Government Program.

The program was designed after the Mutual Educational and Cultural Exchange Act of 1961, wherein it aims to enable the United States to increase mutual understanding between its people and the people thriving in other countries by way of strengthening ties that through the development of educational and cultural programs. Thereby, assisting in the establishment of a friendly, peaceful, and sympathetic relationship between the United States and other participating countries.

In keeping with this objective, the United States Institutes for Student Leaders on US History & Government Program seeks to bring forth undergraduate students from the Western Hemisphere into America to expose the students to the country's education system and culture.

Initially, the institutes will concentrate on enhancing the students' knowledge of the history of the United States, the government, society, and culture.
